Marrak Holdings Pty Ltd was started in late 2018 from the passion and courage of brother and sister duo Darren Thorne and Joanne Hill, both Noongar people from the South West of WA. Marrak Holdings was formed to create opportunities, equality and wealth, and inspire economic growth, independence, creativity and confidence.
Darren Thorne is an energetic and proud local Bunbury Noongar man with a passion for supporting his community and sharing his culture with younger generations. Darren’s extensive experience in the health, community, mining and resources sectors have helped him to develop key community-focused business capabilities.
Darren’s many networks are testament to his character and ability to focus on solutions to the growing needs of the Indigenous community. He is passionate about business success, as well as role modelling his experiences to his family and contributing back to his community.
Joanne Hill is a proud Noongar and Ngadju woman who has lived in Bunbury for more than 35 years. Joanne holds a Bachelor of Business, and also has qualifications in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health, Telecommunications, Sports Development, and Indigenous Mentoring. She is a highly capable business manager, reinforced by her experiences as a key member in a number of community forums and governance committees.
She is passionate about supporting her Noongar people and contributing to the development and capacity building of her peers across the South West region.
Sanjay Karki is a management and recruitment professional with a passion for building successful businesses that create sustainable ongoing work, training and development for Indigenous people.
As General Manager of Marrak Holdings, Sanjay brings a talent for building relationships to the people management, tendering and business development aspects of the business. Sanjay developed strong networks and a clear sense of purpose through three years of experience building relationships and managing people as an Area Manager at Go2 Recruitment, which he now brings to his role at Marrak.
